Royal Eden Docks – A Riverside Revelation in E16
Client: | Mount Anvil |
Development: | Royal Eden Docks |
Postcode: | E16 |
City: | London |
Services: | Gold Furniture Package |
Result Achieved: | Four furnished apartments let in four days |
A client who had been introduced to us via Knight Frank’s Hong Kong office signalled that they were looking for assistance with furnishing four of their properties. The apartments in question were in the Mount Anvil development of Royal Eden Docks, and the landlords were based overseas – a detail that required all the design, planning and implementation to be undertaken in the UK but under one roof.
The InStyle Direct team promptly set up mood boards, and the clients were able to go through them and consult with us – all in the time zone and language of their choosing. A potential challenge arose when all the owners chose the same Gold furniture package. Having the same package and colour scheme without any variation deployed in adjacent apartments would risk each unit not having its own identity. Read on to learn how we came up with a solution.
Our design team came up with a timely, creative solution that would stay within budget and attract rental interest. The team achieved this seamlessly using imaginatively varied colour schemes, accessories and window dressings; interior designers Emma and Nicole were able to give each apartment its own unique atmosphere and personality while working from the same Gold furnishing template.
Even the most stylish furniture items can look regimented and austere if used unimaginatively. The design team countered this from the get-go by marrying the typical neutral tones of the new build with softer tones and pastel accents. Sand-coloured sofas with complementary accessories proved to be a good way of making the apartments look comfortable and welcoming without blocking or absorbing any natural light.
Because the Gold range featured a wide variety of colours and shades, the team was able to effectively mix and match across the four properties, creating difference and contrast. Space was maximised by using slim-profile chairs, and although we offered to install voiles to block out outside noise, the clients were happy with blinds.
The resulting effect was immediate and gratifying. Less than a month after the first mood boards were created, the apartments were ready. It only took four days for all four apartments to be let – an instant success and a clear demonstration of how versatile our furniture packages can be.
