At InStyle Direct, we specialise in helping each property reach its full potential through innovative interior design and thoughtful layouts. Our expert design solutions ensure that every square foot of space functions to its full potential while looking beautiful.
In the following case study, we highlight how our creative design solutions have transformed a variety of properties, each with its own unique features and potential. From making the most of each and every space and crevice to enhancing the flow and appeal of open-plan layouts, see how we’ve used our interior design skills and knowledge.
Case Study 1: Aspen Show Homes – Enhancing Flow & Functionality
At InStyle Direct, we specialise in transforming properties into inviting, stylish spaces that appeal to buyers. Recently, we furnished two units to function as show homes at Aspen Residences. The work was for a studio and a two-bedroom flat, both for the same developer. We used a cohesive design approach to enhance the appeal of each space.
Harmonising Design with Architecture
For these units, our aim was to complement their unique layouts, enhancing flow and functionality. By keeping space behind the sofa in the kitchen, we maintained an open feel, while positioning the dining area by the window showcased stunning views across London—creating an ideal setting for entertaining. Selling a lifestyle to the client is an integral part of the interior design service we offer and showing them how they can use their space to its full potential is paramount.
Colour Palette Inspired by Rose Gold Finishes
The rose gold finishes in both kitchens inspired a warm, cohesive colour palette. For the studio, we used vibrant oranges and navy blues to add depth. As with any project for a developer, the goal was to focus on return on investment. We, therefore, focused on budget-friendly stock items for larger pieces, enhancing the look with funky accessories. Wallpapering the bed area created a cosy nook, and added shelving by the kitchen provided style and storage.
For the two-bedroom unit, we chose soft pinks and warm earth tones to complement the rose gold accents. Bespoke headboards and layered accessories like cushions and artworks added character, while keeping the design aligned with the client’s budget.
Achieving an Eclectic, Contemporary Look
Our interior designer opted for an eclectic and contemporary aesthetic that would stand out to potential buyers. We achieved this with bold, bespoke headboards and playful feature walls, creating focal points that draw the eye. We suggested custom window dressings and unique accessories for a luxurious touch, enhancing the overall appeal of the show homes.
Case Study 2: Point West – Increasing Function of an Open Plan Space
Located in the heart of South Kensington, Point West offers a prime location with access to high-end amenities and vibrant city life. After acquiring a two-bedroom, 973 sq. ft. apartment, the client sought to elevate its style to create a more modern and sophisticated living space that reflected the area’s eclectic vibe. Lead Designer Samera Sarouri and Project Manager Amar Tufaill led this transformation, combining classic elegance with contemporary touches to enhance the apartment’s appeal.
Combining Openness with Modern Design Elements
The client valued the open-plan layout of the kitchen and living area but wanted to explore ways to enhance functionality while maintaining a sense of space. To achieve this, our team proposed a crittall-style glass partition with a sliding transparent door. This feature maintained the airy and spacious feel while subtly dividing the areas for cooking, dining, and relaxation, making the space more versatile and functional. The addition of the sleek, modern partition also created a contemporary focal point, aligning with the client’s vision of a stylish, updated home. Our team handled all permissions required for this installation, ensuring a seamless process from start to finish.
A Cohesive Yet Distinctive Design Approach
The brief called for each room to have its own design identity while maintaining a cohesive overall look. Samera achieved this by using a mix of patterns, fabrics, and textures, ensuring that small details, like hardware finishes, provided continuity throughout the space. Bespoke furniture, custom curtains, and built-in wardrobes were introduced to reflect the client’s eclectic taste. Textured wallpaper in the entrance hallway set the tone for the entire home, creating a welcoming first impression.
Managing Client Requirements and Complex Installations
The client’s experience in their previous home made installing a fully integrated air conditioning system a key priority. Our team coordinated closely with the building management and contractors to manage all necessary permissions and ensure the installation adhered to building regulations. This seamless management allowed the client to focus on other priorities while trusting us with the project’s finer details.
Case Study 3: Cassini, White City Living – Transforming a One-Bedroom Apartment in W12
In the competitive London property market, developers like Berkeley Homes know the importance of creative interior design in demonstrating to buyers the lifestyle the development offers. At White City Living, InStyle Direct was tasked with furnishing a one-bedroom apartment to enhance its appeal to potential investors.
Maximising Space in a Compact Layout
The apartment, with its open-plan layout, provided a good foundation to create a flow for the living space to ensure functionality. To optimise the space, our team focused on creating a layout that maximised usability while enhancing the property’s modern feel.
Design Approach with a Neutral Palette
To create a welcoming atmosphere, we chose a neutral palette of soft greys and creams, accented with muted greens and yellows. This balanced approach allowed the space to feel calm and inviting, appealing to a broad range of buyers.
Adding Character with Key Design Elements
We incorporated items from our Gold furniture package, complemented by unique touches like a painted green square with framed artwork to add depth and visual interest. Carefully selected furniture with curved shapes and compact footprints ensured the space felt open and functional.
Fast Turnaround and Positive Results
The project was completed within a week, showcasing InStyle Direct’s efficiency. The refreshed look led to increased viewings and, within three months, the unit was under offer. This transformation not only helped sell the unit but also sparked interest in other similar plots within the development.
Case Study 4: Campden Street – Preparing a Lower Ground Floor Flat for Airbnb Success
For this project on Campden Street, the homeowner client wanted to redecorate their lower ground floor, one-bedroom flat to attract guests for short-term Airbnb rentals. The goal was to create a cosy and inviting atmosphere while incorporating stylish touches to make the property stand out.
Maximising Comfort in a Compact Layout
The flat’s layout required thoughtful planning to optimise the space for guests. We chose our Diamond furniture package with custom window dressings to add comfort and style while ensuring we worked within the budget suitable for a holiday let. To accommodate a more inviting sofa, adjustments like removing the entrance door were made. We incorporated a bar table with bar stools in the dining area allowing for efficient use of the space, providing a practical yet stylish dining solution.
Design Techniques to Enhance Appeal
To add character while preserving existing features, we kept the original mouldings but introduced wooden elements, colour zoning, and distinctive accessories. In the bedroom, vertical stripes were used to create the illusion of higher ceilings, adding a sense of space. Asymmetrical bedside tables maximised functionality while providing a unique design element that would appeal to guests.
Warm Tones and Reflective Elements
A palette of sage green, wood finishes, and black elements introduced natural tones, creating a warm and welcoming environment. To further enhance the lounge area, a large mirror was installed opposite the window to reflect light, making the space feel brighter and more spacious, making it perfect for an inviting Airbnb stay.
